Scheduling

Planning any vacation can be difficult. Arrivals and departures, beginnings and endings, connections, vouchers: it makes your head spin. Luckily, we’re here to help.

The Denali National Park entrance offers many exciting tours and activities. Consult the charts and descriptions below to help you plan how you’d like to spend your time.

Dotted lines indicate different means of arrival and departure. Colored rectangles are tours. To figure out what you can do and when, simply find the line for your arrival or departure method, then pick activities that are to the right (arrival) or left (departure). Activities that occupy the same vertical space occur at the same time, so you’ll have to pick one or the other.

A few quick notes:

  • If you’re driving to the park, when you arrive or depart is up to you. See an early activity that you’d like to catch? Hit the road early!
  • Flightseeing tours by airplane are not on a fixed schedule. If you’re interested, give us a call. We’ll figure it out.

Tour Descriptions

Denali Backcountry Adventure

Take the most complete one-day tour of Denali National Park. Travel theMt. McKinley and Denali National Park entire length of the 95-mile park road as your driver/guide teaches you about the park and helps you spot wildlife. Includes many small breaks and a long stop for lunch and various activities at Denali Backcountry Lodge.

Denali Backcountry Lodge

Our lodge can only be reached by private bus because it’s located at the very end of the restricted park road. If you’re staying at the lodge, please realize that you’ll need to either arrive via car or motorcoach or plan to stay the night at the park entrance if you’re arriving via train.

Helicopter Tours

Helicopter tours let you fly low to the ground and land just about anywhere. We recommend these for people who want to hike in very remote places without backpacking for a week to get there. Options include:

Rafting

Alaska has wide, ever-changing, beautiful rivers that wind through mountain valleys. These rafting trips range from raging rapids to gentle floats.

Denali Wilderness Safari

Take a 3-hour round trip river ride on a covered, heated powerboat. Travel to a remote trapper’s camp where you’ll pan for gold and enjoy a warm snack.

Husky Homestead

Meet champion Iditarod race dogs, play with husky puppies, and learn about life as a musher on this 1.5 hour tour with Iditarod champion Jeff King.
